A sympathy card can mean so much to family members.
A sympathy card is appropriate, and can mean so much to family members to know of your care and concern, and that they are in your thoughts. The card can either be posted to the family, or can be taken to the funeral service and given to the funeral directors to pass onto the family.
When sending a sympathy card or note of condolence it is often difficult to know what to say to express your thoughts. You can combine phrases and write what feels natural and comfortable for you.
The most important thing to remember is that your words of sympathy should come from the heart.
The family and friends of the deceased often find it helpful if you can include a sentence or two sharing a memory of the deceased. They want to recall the wonderful and special memories of their loved one and when you share something special about your relationship with the deceased, it can give them some comfort.
If you did not have a personal relationship with the deceased, just know that your message of sympathy will still be appreciated.
